Hospital pharmacists have been invited to participate in an event that its organisers hope will guide the development of practice around the world.
The Global Conference on the Future of Hospital Pharmacy, organised by the hospital pharmacy section of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), will be held during the 68th FIP Congress in Basel, Switzerland, on 30-31 August 2008.
FIP is a non-profit organisation representing pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists worldwide.
The organisers say the conference is open to any hospital pharmacy leader, hospital pharmacist or other individual interested in hospital pharmacy practice.
The findings of a global survey on hospital pharmacy practice, an FIP special project carried out in 2007-8, will be presented.
Working group sessions will focus on various dimensions of the medication use process in hospitals and consensus statements will be developed to offer guidance on developing tools to advance hospital pharmacy practice.
