Mr Edwards is President and Chief Executive Officer of Cellzome Inc. Previously, he held various positions at British Biotech plc including Board Director and Acting CEO, and before that was an Investment Banker in London specialising in the healthcare sector. Mr Edwards is also Chairman of The Mulberry Bush Organisation and a Fellow of the RSA. From 2005-2007, he was Chairman of ReOx Limited, a biotech company spun out of the University of Oxford.

Dr Clive Dix, outgoing Chairman of the BIA, said:

“I am delighted that Tim has been elected as the new Chairman of the BIA. I am sure that his experience in the UK life sciences sector will be of great benefit to the organisation and its members.”

Tim Edwards, new Chairman of the BIA, said:

“I eagerly look forward to helping the BIA build on the successes it has achieved to date. The UK life sciences sector continues to face a number of challenges which the BIA can help its members address and overcome.”

Nigel Gaymond, Chief Executive of the BIA, said:

“I would like to thank Clive for the massive contribution he has made to the BIA during his time as Chairman. I would especially like to thank him for the contribution he has made to our work with the Office for Life Sciences. Additionally, I look forward to working with Tim to continue to take the BIA forward.”

Mr Edwards will deliver an introductory presentation at the upcoming BIA BioLeadership Conference.
