The UK’s life sciences trade associations – the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI), the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), the BioIndustry Association (BIA) and the British In Vitro Diagnostic Association (BIVDA) – today welcomed the appointment of Chris Brinsmead as the government’s new Life Sciences Business Advisor.
In partnership with industry and government, Chris will play a vital role in helping the government to deliver a UK life sciences environment that promotes innovation and sector growth and ensures that patients have access to the latest medicines and medical technologies.
The four associations jointly said: “We warmly welcome the appointment of Chris and the Coalition Government’s continued commitment and support to the life sciences industry, as a major driver of future business growth.
“In this challenging economic climate, UK can harness the rich opportunities offered by medical science for the benefit of patients and society.
“The UK is determined to remain a world leader in the field of life sciences and by helping the government, NHS, academia and industry to work together, Chris can play a key role in helping the UK maintain its comparative advantage.”
