Packaging innovations go on show

Pharmaceutical packaging company Bosch is introducing additions to its product portfolio at Interpack 2008 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The Swiss-based firm specialises in processing and packaging technology for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries.

Sören Bräutigam, director of global marketing for Bosch, said it was increasingly important for the drug industry to develop engineering partnerships with packaging firms to design automated and integrated processing and packaging solutions.

He said to meet these challenges Bosch had introduced several innovations: the GKF HiProTect integrated containment capsule-filling system for processing potent substances; the FXS 2010 automatic filling and sealing machine for pre-sterilised nested syringes in a tub; and the VRK 4120 capping system for precision vial placement via an infeed wheel.

Sigpack Systems, a Bosch company, would also showcase its award-winning Burgopak packaging system, featuring a sliding mechanism suitable for pharmaceutical packaging formats.

Mr Bräutigam said: “Bosch’s packaging and processing technology is oriented around a holistic approach that allows manufacturers to make strategic, long-term decisions when acquiring a piece of capital equipment.”
