Drug firm Pfizer has been praised for its work in conserving energy in the fight against climate change.
The company has been inducted into the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a not-for-profit coalition of more than 315 global investors.
It is one of 68 Fortune 500 firms to be named in the list, and the only pharmaceutical company to attain the honour.
Steve Brooks, vice-president of global environment health at Pfizer, said: “The advancement of good health occurs through the innovation, production and distribution of medicines, but also through the preservation of a healthy environment.
“Through the hard work of our energy teams and the commitment of hundreds of colleagues worldwide, Pfizer has been able to conserve energy and use energy more efficiently, which has led to a reduction in our carbon footprint.”
