Research programme seeks experts

The National Institute for Health Research Service Delivery and Organisation (NIHR SDO) programme has launched a recruitment campaign to engage with experts and service users who will advise on NHS research priorities.

The move follows a review of the way in which the SDO programme will identify and commission research priorities in the future.

The SDO programme is recruiting professional members for three new advisory panels and a Commissioning Board in order to meet the challenges of commissioning quality research into areas of importance to the NHS and within the SDO remit. The new structures will come into effect from April 2009.

“We are looking to our new Panel and Commissioning Board members to advise and inform the SDO programme on the most important research needs for the NHS in the delivery and organisation of NHS services,” said Stephen Davies, SDO Programme Director.

The campaign will recruit professional and service users with a wide range of backgrounds, experience and expertise. Members will range from NHS managers through healthcare professionals and researchers, to members of the public who use NHS services.
