A student from Robert Gordon University (RGU) has been recognised as a rising star in the pharmacy profession at this year’s Scottish Pharmacist Awards.
Stage 4 MPharm student, Adam Kyriacou, was crowned ‘Pharmacist of the Future’ at a glittering ceremony at Edinburgh’s International Conference Centre on Saturday, March 1st.
The award recognises a pharmacy student who deserves recognition for their remarkable and leading approach in the field.
There were three finalists in the running for the award– two from RGU, Kerrie Clyne and Adam, as well as another student from the University of Strathclyde.
The judging panel said that Adam, 25, is a role model to his fellow students who works hard to increase his knowledge of the pharmacy profession.
Adam, from Welling in London, was delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist and then receive the accolade.
He said: “It’s a huge honour to be recognised at the Scottish Pharmacist Awards and I am very proud to have won the ‘Pharmacist of the Future’ category.
“To have Kerrie and myself shortlisted as finalists for the award is great for Pharmacy at RGU and we can both be very proud to be recognised in this way.”
Professor Donald Cairns, Head of School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences at RGU, added: “Adam is a very impressive student who has worked hard throughout his time with us to reach a very high standard this year.
“I have no doubt that he is going to be an asset to the pharmacy profession in Scotland and we are pleased to have supported his development.”
That Scottish Pharmacist Awards recognise excellence in pharmacy practice, great business acumen and innovation throughout the pharmacy profession.
The annual Scottish Pharmacist Ball and Awards are held in conjunction with Community Pharmacy Scotland and welcome everyone involved in working with or supplying to the community and hospital pharmacy sectors.
