Teva to create 165 jobs in Ireland

Teva Pharmaceutical has announced details of a 65 million euro investment in Ireland that the group revealed will create 165 jobs.

The Israeli medical giant said it plans to expand its existing facility in Waterford city, and will recruit for the positions over the next five years.

The firm currently employs 650 people at its Waterford Industrial Estate site, where it manufactures inhalers, antibiotics and tablets.

The group makes generic pharmaceuticals and is among the top 20 drug companies in the world.

It manufactures a wide range of products, including antibiotics, cardiovasculars, analgesics, gastrointestinals, fertility treatments, anticancer treatments, central nervous system drugs, anti-inflammatory and respiratory agents.

The positions will be in areas such as research and development, manufacturing, quality control and administrative and support services.

Teva spokesperson Jacob Winter said: “This investment will allow us to protect our products’ leading market shares, add new capability and broaden our geographical reach and impact.”
