The BioIndustry Association (BIA) and NZBIO, the trade associations representing innovative bioscience companies in the UK and New Zealand, have today signed a memorandum of understanding which establishes a strategic partnership between the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
The agreement establishes a working alliance between the organisations which have similar goals and are dedicated to growing successful bioscience companies.
The alliance will provide a united voice for both UK and New Zealand bioscience companies and joint activities between the two organisations will assist member companies in building their international ties.
Together the BIA and NZBIO will promote an exchange of views supporting each other in areas of policy advocacy and initiatives to enhance economic development between the two regions.
Nigel Gaymond, BIA Chief Executive, said: “We believe the partnership between the BIA and NZBIO will form the foundations of a community between our members, as well as offering the possibility of joint events to highlight opportunities for international collaboration.”
Bronwyn Dilley, Chief Executive of NZBIO, said: “As New Zealand’s bioscience industries rely heavily on international investment opportunities this alignment with the BIA will help bring people and businesses from both New Zealand and the United Kingdom together more regularly. NZBIO’s and the BIA’s strong relationship will help ‘unlock’ the potential of both regions.”
