At the UKCPA Conference on Saturday 25 November it was announced that Ann Page and Mark Borthwick will be co-Chairs of UKCPA for two years from 1 January 2018.
Mr Borthwick held the post of Chair from 2013 to 2015 and was supported by Ms Page as Vice-Chair during this time. Since May 2015 Ms Page has led the association as Chair, and Mr Borthwick has continued his involvement in the strategic direction of UKCPA as Immediate Past Chair.

Paul Evans, Chair of UKCPA Trustees, said: “Both Ann and Mark have been outstanding leaders for the association over the past few years, and we are extremely honoured and proud that they will continue as co-Chairs. With much strategic development underway within the organisation, seamless leadership will be crucial and highly beneficial; continuity of the executive team will ensure strategic plans continue to move forward. Ann and Mark have both made enormous contributions to UKCPA and their insight and vision is incredibly valuable to the organisation and to the membership.”
Ms Page, who is Workforce Governance Lead at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “The UKCPA is involved in a number of exciting initiatives and working together with Mark will mean that we can each lead on the projects for which we have the most experience. In addition, setting the precedent of sharing a Chair role in this way widens access to this type of professional leadership position to those who might have previously felt unable to take on such a role due to other commitments.”
Mr Borthwick, a Consultant Pharmacist in Critical Care at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “This extraordinary organisation grew from the steadfast belief that pharmacy’s mission is to foster and develop practices that maximise the beneficial impacts of medicines on both the quantity and quality of patient’s lives and their families – this has been the vision of UKCPA for over 35 years. I am thrilled to be working as co-Chair with Ann and with Team UKCPA to continue to advance these shared aims of our organisation and the pharmacy professions into the future.”
