MRSA-resistant silver pyjamas to allay hospital fears

A range of antimicrobial nightwear with silver has been marketed by a company which specialises in clothing for people with physical disabilities.

Manufacturer Allana said the products were made from a luxurious blend of cotton and polyester with Trevira Bioactive silver – which was proven to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, including MRSA.

Tiny particles of silver, invisible to the eye, are embedded in the fibres, making the antibacterial effect permanent.

The company said its specialist nightwear was ideal for people who had difficulty dressing and undressing, and the pyjamas were useful for adults embarking on a hospital stay.

Nina Faresin, design director at Allana, conceived theĀ  pyjamas and also the ALLANAgown, created to make life easy for wearer and carer.

“Our nightwear with silver makes an excellent Christmas gift choice for a group of people for whom it is difficult to buy,” she said.

“These products give pleasure and make life easier long after the festivities have faded and the turkey and tinsel have been cleared away.

“Certain high street stores have recently started to market pyjamas with silver. We believe that our Bioactive Silver range is the first and the best on the market.

“With the fashion set showing interest, it seems that silver pyjamas are being bought by people who simply want to feel fresh and luxurious.”
