The equipment was installed by iSOFT Spain at four health centres and one hospital for private healthcare group ESSAUDE.

Running on a single database, the solution aims to provideintegrated patient management, clinical and financial applicationsacross the five centres.

The solution aims to allow patients’ medical histories to be managedelectronically with clinical tools which provide accurate informationfor point-of-care tests as well as providing access to previousdiagnoses and test results.

The Povoa de Varzim, Vila Nova de Cerveira, Amarante and Portohealth centres and the Sant’lago-Setubal Hospital were acquired byPortuguese group Espirito Santo Saúde (ESSAUDE) last year.

The iSOFT company has worked with ESSAUDE since 2000 and began this latest project in September 2007.

All five centres now use the patient administration systems in outpatient, inpatient, infirmary and pharmacy departments.

At the beginning of 2007, ESSAUDE expanded its hospital divisionconsiderably, acquiring Portuguese hospital network Hospor, whichcomprised these four health centres and one hospital.
