UK regulatory body closer to reality

teaser

A group is to be set up to work on establishing a new UK pharmacy regulator, according to the UK Department of Health.

The DoH said a Professional Regulation and Leadership Oversight Group would be established to advise and work with health ministers on the complex programme of work to establish a General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

The move follows recommendations made in the report of the working party on professional regulation and leadership in pharmacy.

The group will help identify how leadership in the profession can best support the GPhC, for example via establishing a royal college for pharmacy.
